Locations are an area (amount of space) derived from an physical location. A Location is described by its map/schema and coordinates, where you can assign Receivers.
Adding Gateway to a Location
To add Gateway to a location, go to Locations -> Locations List, select your location. If you don't have a location, create one by clicking 'Add Location', then give it a name and description (optional). Then click on 'Assign devices'. Select the Gateway(s) from the list located under the 'Gateway list' section and click the Assign dropdown menu to get the full list of actions. There click 'Assign to location'.
Once this is done, you will need to place your Gateway on the actual map.
Map setup and placing Gateway(s)
Go to Location List, select your location, then go to the Map Setup tab.
The first step is to upload the blueprints of the space where you will be using your Gateway. You can either use the default map or click on 'Edit Place' to upload your own.
In this example, the layout of the first floor of a simple office was used. Click 'Browse files', select your blueprint or layout file (in jpg, png or gif). Then turn on the Measuring Tool, and select an area in which you know the distances involved, by clicking on two points on the map. In the example, we know that Office 1 is 19' or 488cm, so we will place the line between the two walls of the Office and add '488' in the input field where it says 'distance in cm'.
Then click on 'Save Map'. After saving, all that is left for you to do is locate the Gateway on the map, by dragging its name from the right hand side and placing it on the map. It will be shown as a purple dot.
If your Gateway has been configured correctly and it has power, you can go to the Live Map tab, then click on the play button and all the beacons that are in range of the Gateway will be shown there.

Hello,
With the update to the Location engine, how do I place Gateways on the map?
These instructions are no longer valid.
Hi Christian! We will soon release an update to Panel which allows you to add Gateways. These instructions are still valid for customers who have an access to a legacy view.
