In the Kio Asset Tracker, Alert Rules are essential for monitoring assets entering or existing locations. This article explains how to create and manage Alert Rules. It covers the essential information to consider when creating a new rule, instructions to create and edit rules, and how to enable or disable a rule. It's important to note that managing Alert Rules is restricted to users assigned to the Asset Tracker Administrator role.

An Alert Rule defines the monitored conditions that activate an alert. Alerts provide a method to notify staff of asset location events - either entering or exiting a location. The conditions set in a rule include when an alert is activated, the monitored locations and assets, and who receives alert notifications and their notification method (email, SMS text, or to third-party system via a Webhook integration)

Alert Rules are essential for monitoring specific conditions and activating alerts when those conditions are met. Enabling or disabling these rules allows you to control alert activations, which is particularly useful during certain situations, such as during the initial system setup or a planned network outage.
Disabling an Alert Rule prevents it from activating alerts, even if the defined conditions are met. This feature is beneficial during short-term scenarios where alert notifications are unnecessary or could cause unnecessary concern.
