A Tag is a Kontakt.io Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) device that is either attached to assets or worn by people. Assigning and managing tags is one of the most important tasks to ensure the location of assets and people are available within the Kio Apps. Tagging entities may also be referred to as tagging assets, assigning badges, or patient wristbanding.
Topics include:
-
You must be assigned to the Company Settings Administrator role.
-
Each Kontakt.io Tag has a unique 12-character MAC address and Unique Id - both printed on the side or back side of the tag.
-
For those assigned to the Administrator role within a Kio App, managing tags assigned to assets or people can also be completed from the app.
-
Tags can also be assigned from the Entity Manager app or mobile app.
-
From your Kontakt.io Launchpad, select Company Settings.
-
From the Entity Management menu, select Entities.
-
From the list, locate the Tag Id column. This displays the tag's 12-character MAC address assigned to each entity.
If a Tag Id column does not display a value, this indicates a tag has not been assigned to the entity.
You will need either the tag's 12-character MAC address or Unique ID that are printed on the side or back side of a tag.
-
From your Kontakt.io Launchpad, select Company Settings.
-
From the Entity Management menu, select Entities.
-
From the list, use the Search option to locate the entity by its ID, name, or an attribute > select the Name of the entity. Its detailed profile is displayed.
-
From its profile, select Edit.
-
From the Assigned tag section, search for the tag's MAC address or Unique ID > once found, select the tag.
Cannot locate the tag? There are two possible causes: (1) only tags that are not assigned to an entity are available. You can return to the Entities list view to search by the tag's MAC address to view its assigned entity or (2) if the tag was part of an order recently received from Kontakt.io, be sure that the Order ID has been claimed in Device Management 2.0.
-
When done, select SAVE.
If your BLE to Wi-Fi Infrastructure is in place, either Kontakt.io Portal Lights or compatible BLE Access Points, wait up to 5 minutes and then refresh the page to view the location of the entity. This will validate that the tag was assigned and attached to the entity.
When you need to replace a Kontakt.io Tag, either attached to an asset or worn by a person, this requires assigning the new tag to the entity. This procedure can also apply when an entity's current assigned tag has been lost.
-
From Company Settings, select the Entities menu.
-
From the list, use the Search option to locate the entity by its ID, name, or an attribute > select the Name of the entity. Its detailed profile is displayed.
-
From its profile, select EDIT.
-
From the Assigned tag section, search the new tag's MAC address or Unique ID > once found, select the tag.
