We have always aimed to deliver innovative products that help people build smart location-based solutions. With our Location Engine, we built the Analytics API with its Web Panel interface and provided methods for storing collected Gateway data.
After an extensive review of the usage, performance, and user feedback of Location Engine, we have come to the conclusion that these features do not meet needs and expectations.
Therefore we have decided to deprecate them by May 1st, 2018.
Deprecating the less used features of Location Engine will enable us to focus on improving and enriching the popular real-time data streams. We will also be making several small changes about which you can read more below.
- Web Panel Location Section (Live Map, History, Dwell Time, Heat Maps...)
- Data Storage
- Webhook
- Analytics API
- Place and Receiver -API resources.
Due to the deprecation of Place and Receiver, we will enable another method of grouping data streams of multiple Gateways. This method will be communicated in April to enable a smooth transition. Note that Gateway-overview and Triggers & Actions features in Web Panel are not affected.
Additionally, your Gateway devices will not be affected. Gateways will continue monitoring beacons and sending live data that will be available through the MQTT and WebSocket streams. Also, if you have an Infrastructure Management license and are using Gateways for fleet management and provisioning beacons, these features will not be affected.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause. We will send a second reminder one month before deprecation. If you have any questions about this change or how it affects you and your subscriptions, don't hesitate to contact us.
