From your Kio Cloud Launchpad, select Policy Foundry.
The list displays all policies. Information includes each policy's ID, name, description, and status. To view or edit a policy, from the actions column select the Edit icon.
Before you add a new policy, be sure you've created your policy action templates (emails, text messages, or streams).
From your Kio Cloud Launchpad, select Policy Foundry > from the upper-right corner, select ADD POLICY.
You can either create an entire new policy (CREATE FROM SCRATCH) or create a new policy based on the profile of an existing policy (CHOOSE BASED ON).
For example, you have an existing policy that generates email actions, but you also want text messages. Select CHOOSE BASED ON and then update the action for your new policy.
Enter the policy Name and Description. be sure to provide a name that uniquely identifies the policy.
Timing: set the policy schedule. The policy can always be active, active on specific days, or active during a specific date range.
Participating devices: policy can be set for all devices or specific devices.
Affected locations (Smart Locations): you can either choose all locations or a specific location.
Locations are based on the parent-child hierarchy rule. If you select a campus, all of its child buildings, floors, and rooms/spaces are automatically included. Also, if you select a campus you are a limited to only selecting other campuses, you cannot select specific buildings, floors, or rooms/spaces.
Conditions: specify what needs to happen for the policy to trigger an action.
Trigger set to..
Battery level: Equal, Above, Above or equal, Below, Below or equal
Button click (pressed)
Temperature: Equal, Above, Above or equal, Below, Below or equal
Air quality: Equal, Above, Above or equal, Below, Below or equal
Humidity: Equal, Above, Above or equal, Below, Below or equal
Room occupancy (number of people): Equal, Above, Above or equal, Below, Below or equal
Actions: assign the action that's triggered during a policy excursion. A policy is limited to one action (email, text message, or stream).
Select ADD ACTION > from the drop-down list, select an action.
Policy coordinator: limits the number of messages (email or text notifications) sent in a specified time duration. Allows for multiple limiters.
Depending on the use case, you can choose values that are suitable for the particular policy.
Another useful feature is an aggregator that collects all messages for a specified amount of time and sends them as one message. This is set by setting the messages count to greater than 1.
Try to avoid the situation when an excursion is active for long periods of time, which would result in continuous notifications. This can also avoid notification fatigue.
An email notification can be sent only once a minute.
When all settings are configured, select SAVE AND ACTIVATE.
