Some of the Kontakt.io beacons are equipped with sensors that measure and collect data about the beacons and their surroundings. Sensors include an accelerometer, light sensor, thermometer, and environmental sensors.
In most cases to take advantage of sensors, a beacon is required to have the Kontakt.io Telemetry Packet enabled. Most sensor data is available from the Kontakt.io APIs and mobile SDKs.
Beacons that have an accelerometer report raw acceleration values that they're experiencing on 3 axes, as well as to detect predefined events like free-fall and double-tap.
Beacons equipped with an accelerometer, motion-based power saving mode can be enabled.
To ensure a beacon equipped with a light sensor does not consume too much battery, the measurements of light intensity are reported in common units like lux or nits.
The light sensor uses a very simple scale from 0 (complete darkness) to 100 (bright, sunny day without any clouds and shadows).
Light level measurements are very reliable and in the same conditions present reproducible results. Making this a perfect solution for triggering actions depending on the current light level measurement. Light sensor data enables using the light-based Power Saving.

Measuring ambient temperature is possible thanks to the thermometer built into the Bluetooth microcontroller package.
Calibration: it may be necessary to provide an offset for the raw temperature to get actual values. Setting the offset is configured from the Kio Gateway installer app. You can also create a bulk configuration via our API by setting the temperatureOffset parameter for the new offset configuration.
The environmental sensors allows simultaneously measuring the temperature, humidity, air pressure, and air quality of a space.
