These instructions provide the steps to get a Portal Light ready for use. Once completed, a Portal Light scans for Kontakt.io BLE beacons and devices and sends data to and downloads settings from Kio Cloud over its connection to the local WiFi network.
If you have multiple Portal Lights, we recommend following the Portal Light bulk setup and install instructions.
Portal Light(s) are added to your Kio Cloud account. When you receive a Kontakt.io order, you need to add the order's devices to your Kio Cloud account. If you don't have a Kio Cloud account, please do so now to add your devices.
Kio Cloud Smart Location is setup.
Portal Light network requirements are met.
Local WiFi network settings. The network the Portal Light will connect to at its install location.
Not required If Kontakt.io pre-configured your Portal Lights with the network settings. Pre-configuration is requested at the time an order is placed.
Kio Gateway Installer app installed on your mobile device.

Deploying both Portal Lights and Portal Beams? First, set up and install each Portal Light and then the Portal Beams.
Complete the following steps for each Portal Light.
If Kontakt.io pre-configured your Portal Lights with your facility's WIFi network settings, you can skip this step.
Sign in to Kio Cloud > select Device Management > select Gateways.
From the list, select the Portal Light you're configuring by its MAC address (printed on the side of the device).
You'll now configure its local (custom) WiFi network settings.
Enter each of the WiFi network properties > select Save Changes.
Network Authentication: Personal (WPA; TKIP & AES), Enterprise (WPA2; TKIP & AES), Open WiFi (WEP; Open &Shared)
Network Name: SSID; case sensitive
Network Password: passphrase (network password); case sensitive

During this step, you'll complete its install steps from the Kio Gateway Installer app. You'll also assign the Portal Light to its exact location within your Kio Cloud Smart Location.
This step is completed at the Portal Light install location. Be sure to view the Portal Light install location guidelines.
From your mobile device, open the Kio Gateway Installer app .
What's displayed is dependent on whether you're already signed into the app.

From the first screen tap Skip.
Select cloud.kontakt.io > tap Continue.
Sign in with your Kio Cloud email and password > tap Sign in.
Select Other Guided Setups.
Tap Install Devices.
Tap Portal Light Setup and bring your mobile device close to the Portal Light.
Follow the step-by-step instructions provided in the app.
Have a problem with the app not finding a device, shows out of range and you are nearby, or it's not allowing you to perform an action?
From your mobile device, turn Bluetooth OFF and then ON again. Wait for the app to establish its connection to the Portal Light.
Verify the Portal Light LED is a solid green, which indicates it's connected to the local WiFi network. It's now ready for use and actively communicating to Kio Cloud.
If its LED remains RED, this indicates it could not connect to the local WiFi network. From Kio Cloud, verify its network settings are correct.
