When you receive your Kontakt.io order, it's time to deploy! Complete the below steps to begin your journey with Kontakt.io and Cisco Spaces (formerly Cisco DNA Spaces).
Note
If you are deploying Portal Beams, refer to the article Portal Beam deployment guide with Cisco Spaces.
Before you begin your Kontakt.io and Cisco Spaces deployment, the following prerequisites must be met.

-
Cisco DNA Spaces: IoT Services (Wireless) prerequisites are met.
This includes, controllers added and active, Access Points connected and added to Maps, IoT Manage Streams enabled, and Access Points synchronized.
For complete details and instructions, refer to the IoT Services Configuration Guide (Wireless).
-
Cisco Spaces Maps with floor images are set up. Learn more from the Detect and Locate Guide.

Kontakt.io IoT devices (beacons) must be onsite.
-
Unbox your Kontakt.io devices and locate your Order ID.
-
From your Cisco Spaces account, go to IoT Services > select Device Management > scroll down to the Onboard Devices section > select Onboard Devices.
Konakt.io IoT devices are identified as Floor Beacons.

For complete details, see the Cisco DNA Spaces: IoT Services Configuration Guide (Wireless). Configuration > Beacons and Tags article (Claiming a beacon).
Note
If you have been working with Kontakt.io and we did not include the Kio Cloud app in your deployment plan, you can skip this step and step 3. Not all solutions require the Kio Cloud app, such as Indoor Wayfinding. To learn more about the Kio Cloud app, please reach out to your Kontakt.io pre-sales engineer or our sales team.
This step activates the integration between your Cisco Spaces account and Kio Cloud.
-
Activating the Kio Cloud app requires a Kio Cloud account. If you don't have an account, create one now and then return to this step. If you already have an account, please continue on.
-
From your Cisco Spaces account, go to the App Center.
-
From the left menu, select BLE to filter the apps > locate and select the Kontakt.io Kio Cloud app.
-
Select Activate.
If you've activated the Kio Cloud app, the Kontakt.io team will integrate your Cisco Spaces Maps with your Kio Cloud Smart Location.
To request this required integration, send an email to support@kontakt.io. Please include your contact information, Cisco Spaces account detail (admin account), and your Kio Cloud account email address. Our team will contact you to verify we have what's needed and begin the integration.
Before you mount or begin to use a device, we do recommend verifying it's powered on.
An Anchor Beacon arrives powered ON.
NOTE: if you notice a yellow tab extended out from the top of the Anchor Beacon, this is a battery separator tab. To power on the beacon, remove this tab.

An Asset Tag arrives powered ON.
To verify an Asset Tag is ON, press and quickly release the BLUE or RED button and verify you see its LED blink for a few seconds.
If you did not see the LED blinking, you'll need to turn it ON. Press and hold the BLUE or RED button for 5 seconds. When you see the button LED blink, it's your confirmation the tag is ON.
NOTE: continuously pressing either button may result in activating a button press event. If you do not see an LED flashing after a button press, do not press a button for 5 seconds to allow the device to clear the previous button event.
To program its two buttons to trigger excursion events (alerts), a policy is required to be created for each of its buttons. Policies are created and managed from the Kio Cloud Policy Foundry app.
