Kontakt.io beacon devices offer power saving capabilities that conserve power to extend their battery lifespan. Power saving can be managed by device movement, a 7-day hourly schedule, timed-sequence broadcasting, to ambient light levels. When actively in power-saving mode and not broadcasting normally per its power saving configuration, a beacon device consumes less energy by reducing its packet advertisement rate to disabling packets and non-essential hardware sensors.
Power saving can be configured from the Kio Cloud Device Management app or the Kontakt.io Device Management API.
The following details each of the four power saving options and a beacon power saving compatibility matrix.

For beacons equipped with an accelerometer, power saving can be managed by motion-based events. This option allows devices to conserve battery power when they are not moving.

Normal broadcast (advertising) mode: when the device accelerometer signals the device is moving.

Power-saving mode: when the device accelerometer does not detect movement for 60 consecutive seconds.
The below table details the beacon settings when in power-saving mode to conserve power consumption.

Beacon is set to a precise broadcast schedule that is based on hours of operation in a 7-day weekly hour-by-hour calendar. This allows a device to conserve battery power during specified non-working hours.

Beacon is set to a timed sequence that determines the number of seconds it's "awake" and broadcasting normally. When the "awake" time period ends, the beacon goes to "sleep" (power-saving mode) and does not broadcast for a specified number of minutes. The sequence is repeated continuously.

Normal broadcast (advertising) mode: set number of consecutive "active broadcasting" seconds.

Power-saving mode: set number of consecutive "sleep" minutes.
When in "sleep mode", a device equipped with an accelerometer “wakes up” when its accelerometer signals the device is moving. And a device equipped with a button “wakes up” when a button is clicked/pressed. Both of these event types reset the broadcasting/power-saving sequence, starting with broadcasting at the time an event occurs.

For beacons equipped with a light sensor, power saving is managed by its ambient light intensity reading level. This option allows devices to conserve power when lights are off during nighttime hours.

Power-saving mode: when the ambient light level drops below a specified threshold percentage.
