Kontakt.io beacon devices offer power saving capabilities that conserve power to extend their battery lifespan. Power saving can be managed by device movement, a 7-day hourly schedule, timed-sequence broadcasting, to ambient light levels. When actively in power-saving mode and not broadcasting normally per its power saving configuration, a beacon device consumes less energy by reducing its packet advertisement rate to disabling packets and non-essential hardware sensors.
This article provides the instructions to configure a power saving option for your beacon devices. A beacon can only have one power saving option enabled. Configuration can also be completed via our Device Management API.
-
From Kio Cloud, go to Device Management > select Beacons.
-
You can configure a single beacon or multiple beacons at the same time.
For multiple beacons, it's best that all beacons are of the same model. When selecting different beacon models at one time, this may limit the available configuration options.
Single beacon: select the beacon’s ID/NAME > select the Power Saving tab > enable and set the option setting or change an option to disabled.
Multiple beacons: from the list, select each beacon to configure > select Bulk Edit > select the Power Saving tab > enable and set the option settings or change an option to disabled.

The beacon(s) must now synchronize to receive and apply the Kio Cloud pending configuration update.
When a setting configuration change is made to a beacon from Kio Cloud or the Device Management API, the beacon is set to a Pending Update status and must be synchronized to receive the update. From the Beacons list view, a SYNC icon indicates a beacon has a pending update.
A beacon can synchronize to receive and apply Kio Cloud pending updates from either of the following methods. For complete details, see About synchronizing beacon and gateway pending updates.
