When you receive a Portal Beam order from Kontakt.io, it's time to deploy! Deploying Portal Beams with Cisco Spaces is unique - resulting in occupancy data and IR room-level location and tracking.
Note
When preparing a site install plan, learn about the Portal Beam coverage area placement guidelines.
Complete the below steps to begin your Portal Beam journey with Kontakt.io and Cisco Spaces.
Before you begin your Kontakt.io and Cisco Spaces deployment, the following prerequisites must be met.
-
Cisco Spaces account with ACT license is set up. Learn more from the Cisco Spaces Setup Guide.
-
Cisco DNA Spaces: IoT Services (Wireless) prerequisites are met.
This includes, controllers added and active, Access Points connected and added to Maps, IoT Manage Streams enabled, and Access Points synchronized.
For complete details and instructions, refer to the IoT Services Configuration Guide (Wireless).
-
Cisco Spaces Maps with floor images are set up. Learn more from the Detect and Locate Guide.
-
Kontakt.io IoT devices must be onsite.
Orders placed for Portal Beams must be claimed from your Kontakt.io Kio Cloud account rather than from Cisco Spaces. Claiming an order adds the order's devices to your Kio Cloud account.
You'll need the Kontakt.io Order ID that is located on the Quick Start Guide included in the order packaging and included in the order confirmation emails. Please do not add devices until the order shipment is received.
This step activates the integration between your Cisco Spaces account and Kio Cloud.
-
From your Cisco Spaces account, go to the App Center.
-
From the left menu, select BLE to filter the apps > locate and choose the Kontakt.io Kio Cloud app.
-
Select Activate.
During this step, the Kontakt.io team integrates your Cisco Spaces Maps with Kio Cloud Smart Location. This integration is required for occupancy data, IR room-level location, and tracking accuracy.
To request this required integration, send an email to support@kontakt.io. Our team will contact you to verify we have what's needed and begin the integration.
Please include in your email to our team:
-
Your contact information
-
Cisco Spaces account detail (admin account)
-
Your Kio Cloud account email address
After Kontakt.io completes your Kio Cloud Smart Location integration, you can set up and install your Kontakt.io Portal Beams. A Portal Beam can be set up for one of the three available occupancy modes.
Select the mode being deployed to learn how to deploy and install Portal Beams.
-
Room occupancy mode - measures the count of people occupying spaces.
-
Seat-level occupancy mode - detects and measures the presence of people in multi-seat workstations.
-
Footfall Traffic mode - counts people traffic in floors to entire buildings; a Portal Beam detects movement and counts people entering and exiting a space defined by its adjustable crossing line.
