When you're ready to begin deploying your Kontakt.io devices, the following provides the required steps to get the devices ready for use. Deploying Kontakt.io infrastructure devices require installing the devices with the Kio Setup Manager mobile app. And for your Kontakt.io Tag devices, by factory default these are shipped powered on and are ready for use. Although for custom or large orders, tags may include an activation sticker that indicates they must be powered on for use.

If your deployment includes Portal Lights, always install these first.
Kontakt.io Infrastructure devices are required to be setup and installed using the Kio Setup Manager mobile app. Infrastructure are devices that are stationary, remain in a fixed location, and are assigned to their Smart Location install location.
You'll need to configure each Portal Light with the facility's local Wi-Fi network to allow its connection to Kio Cloud and complete the Portal Light install steps from the Kio Setup Manager app.

IMPORTANT: if your deployment includes Portal Lights, set up and install these devices first.

The battery-powered Anchor Beacon 2 must be activated for use. If shipped activated, its packaging will include a sticker indicating it has been activated and is ready for use.
To activate, pull the yellow tab (battery separator) on the Anchor Beacon's top side. Once activated, its battery power is ON and it's ready for use
By default, the battery-powered Asset Tag 2 is shipped from Kontakt.io with its power turned ON. If a tag is shipped with its power OFF, its packaging will include a sticker indicating that it must be powered ON before use.

Press and quickly release the blue or red button.

Warning
Continuously pressing either of the tag's buttons may result in activating a button press event. If you do not see an LED flashing after a button press, do not press a button for 5 seconds to allow the tag to clear the previous button event.
If a tag's LED does not blink after pressing and quickly releasing its blue or red button, follow the below steps to turn it ON.

A Kontakt.io Sticker Tag is equipped with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that requires activation for use. This activation is completed using the Kio Setup Manager mobile app. Once activated, the Sticker Tag is ready for use and can then be assigned to a tracked asset within the Kontakt.io platform.

From your mobile device, open Kio Setup Manager.
The first time you sign in or after reinstalling the app, you will complete all of the following steps. Once you’ve successfully signed in, the app remembers your Sign In Method and Region.

Select a Sign in Method > tap Kio Cloud (most common method).

Your organization has a Tenant account. You sign in to Kio Cloud from an unique URL that includes the Tenant ID.

When OFF, the LED does not blink when pressing and quickly releasing a button.
A Nano Tag must be activated for use. Once activated, it has up to a 3-month battery life with the factory default settings (Tx power +2.5 dBm, Interval 1000 ms; 1Hz, single channel). The battery life of a Nano Tag can be extended to a full operating year or more with a slower location update rate, but this requires custom configuration prior to shipment. Press and hold its front side for 3 to 5 seconds and release when you see its LED blinks; 5 blinks indicate its battery is activated and ready for use.
A Nano Tag IR must be activated for use. Once activated, it has a battery life of 14 days and cannot be turned off.

Activate the tag
Place your thumb on front bottom side and your index finger on the back side
Press and hold the back side firmly for 5 seconds.You will feel a click, indicating the activation has started.
As you press and hold, watch the front side for the Blue LED indicator flashing - this confirms its battery is being activated.
Tip
No Blue LED flash? Release and try again. Once activated, the Blue LED will no longer flash.
