Information given by Location Engine
AnsweredHi,
I'm working on a project about indoor positioning and I'm looking for devices to use and integrate.
I am writing to ask you about the infrastructure management license and what it implies compared to the normal use of only devices.
I wanted to ask if buying the devices you have access to these features in dashboard for a trial period, or there are some "basic" features that are provided and other "advanced" that are provided only with the subscription.
Also, I am confused about if the access to the API for Location Engine is provided only with this subscription or just connecting the beacons to a Gateway (Kontakt.io Gateways or third parties, such as Meraki) and then you can use it as written in docs here: https://developer.kontakt.io/api-reference/10/
Another thing that is not clear to me is what extra informations you can get from the integration with other access points, such as meraki (in addition to network connectivity), as these Meraki devices already offers a positioning feature (giving coordinates of devices in the POST requests).
So I would ask if Kontak.io cloud done some calculation for this purpose, using the information collected by Meraki POSTs and if it could return it through API.
Thank you in advance for your attention and I look forward to your feedback!

Hello Samatha,
The location engine allows for reading live data from Gateways like Meraki. Data is pushed to the stream automatically without the need of any additional requests.
The link you have provided for the API is a different service (pretty much free to use with even no subscription). It is used to get additional data from the beacon and cloud like set up venues, settings, etc.
The calculation of the coordinates in this case is done by Meraki software. Gateway returns only raw values.
