Beam Mini + Cisco Spaces + Kio Cloud
To get room-level certainty outcomes with a Kontakt.io Beam Mini infrastructure and Cisco Spaces, you'll need to complete additional integration steps. These steps include the setup of Kontakt.io's Kio Cloud platform and installing Beam Minis with the Kio Setup Manager mobile app.

Before you begin your deployment, the following prerequisites must be met.

Cisco Spaces account set up with an ACT license. Learn more from the Cisco Spaces Setup Guide.

Cisco Spaces: IoT Services (Wireless) prerequisites are met.
This includes controllers added and active, Access Points connected and added to Maps, IoT Manage Streams enabled, and Access Points synchronized.
Refer to the IoT Services Configuration Guide (Wireless) for complete details and instructions.

Cisco Spaces Maps with floor images setup is complete. Learn more from the Track and Trace Manage Maps instructions.
If you already have a Kio Cloud account, proceed to the next step.
To create a new account, from a web browser go to https://cloud.kontakt.io/register
If you’re located in the United Kingdom/Europe, go to https://cloud.uk.kontakt.io/register
A Kio Cloud account activation is sent to your email address. It may take a few minutes for the email to arrive. Please be sure to check your junk/spam folder. The email is sent from hello@kontakt.io.
Claiming a Kontakt.io Order ID within Cisco Spaces adds the order's devices to your Cisco Spaces device inventory.
You'll need the Kontakt.io Order ID provided on the Quick Start Guide included in the order packaging. The Order ID is also provided in your order confirmation emails.

Log in to your Cisco Spaces account.

From the left-menu, go to IoT Services > Device Management.

Select Onboard Devices > Floor Beacons > Next.

Enter your Kontakt.io Order ID (it's case sensitive) > and select Add to Inventory.

Verify the Kontakt.io devices were successfully claimed. Ffom Device Management, go the Devices tab > Floor Beacons > Claimed Devices > verify the devices are listed.
Kontakt.io IoT devices are identified as Floor Beacons.

This step activates the integration between your Cisco Spaces and Kio Cloud account.
In this step, using your Cisco Spaces Device Management API Key, you'll complete a one-time setup to synchronize the Kontakt.io devices claimed in Cisco Spaces with your Kio Cloud account. Once complete, Kio Cloud automatically synchronizes daily with Cisco Spaces Device Management. allowing you to view and manage your devices from either platform.

Sign in to your Kio Cloud account.
US region: go to https://cloud.kontakt.io
UK region: go to http://cloud.uk.kontakt.io

From your Kontakt.io Launchpad, select Device Management 2.0.

From the left menu, go to Add Devices > select Device Federation.

From the Add Devices via Device Federation, enter in your Cisco Spaces Device Management API Key > select Create.
This step results in the Kontakt.io team importing your Cisco Spaces Maps into your Kio Cloud Smart Location. Once complete, you can access your maps from Smart Location.
The Kontakt.io will also activate the Kio Workspace Insights app to view the Portal Beam real-time seat or floor traffic occupancy.
To request a map import, submit a Kontakt.io Support Request.

The Kontakt.io Order ID claimed within Cisco Spaces
Once you receive confirmation from Kontakt.io that your integration is complete, it's time to install. A Beam Mini is a stationary, infrastructure device that requires installation with Kontakt.io's Kio Setup Manager mobile app.
Kontakt.io Infrastructure devices, those that remain in a fixed, stationary position, are required to be installed using the Kio Setup Manager mobile app. If you already have the app, be sure you have the latest version.
To download the app, go to the App Store or Google Play. Search for Kio Setup Manager.

User access requirements. You must be assigned to a Device Management role. A role determines your permission level and which devices you can access. For example, a user assigned the Device Management Administrator role has full permissions to all devices. For more information, see Manage user access to Device Management.

Account type. You'll need to know if your organization's account is a Tenant or Non-Tenant type. You can identify the account type from the URL used to sign in from a web browser.
Tenant account type: You sign in to Kio Cloud from an unique URL that includes the Tenant ID. Example: https://[Tenant ID].app.cloud.[us or uk].kontakt.io.
Non-Tenant account type: You sign in to Kio Cloud from https://app.cloud.us.kontakt.io or https://app.cloud.uk.kontakt.io.

Account Region. During sign in, you'll need to select the region of your organization's account.
The Region is also located in the account URL (https://[Tenant ID].app.cloud.[us or uk].kontakt.io).

From your mobile device, open Kio Setup Manager.
The first time you sign in or after reinstalling the app, you will complete all of the following steps. Once you’ve successfully signed in, the app remembers your Sign In Method and Region.

Select a Sign in Method > tap Kio Cloud Account (most common method).
Cisco Spaces Account: for use when installing Kontakt.io Portal Beams integrated with Cisco Spaces.
Sign in with Kontakt.io QR code: for use only when instructed by the Kontakt.io team.

Select Region > tap the geographic location of your organization's Kio Cloud account.
United States: located in North America or Japan-Asia Pacific locations.
United Kingdom: located in the UK, EU, and other European countries.
Custom Region: only select when instructed by the Kontakt.io team.

Enter Tenant ID is dependent on your organization's Kio Cloud account type. Refer to the below table for more details.

Tap "I don't have a Tenant ID" when...
Your organization has a Tenant account. You sign in to Kio Cloud from an unique URL that includes the Tenant ID.
Example: https://[Tenant ID appears here].app.cloud.[us or uk].kontakt.io
To sign in: enter the Tenant ID > tap Continue > provide your user credentials (email/password or SSO).
You sign in to Kio Cloud from a web browser from either of the below URLs (Non-Tenant account):
To sign in: provide your Kio Cloud user email and password credentials.
Before you begin, be sure you're familiar with the Beam Mini placement and coverage and mounting instructions.

Unbox and power on the Beam Mini; from its underside, move its battery switch to the ON position.
Recommended: write down its MAC address and Unique ID located on its underside. Once the Beam Mini is mounted, this information will not be visible.

From the Kio Setup Manager bottom menu, tap Install > Beam > Beam Mini. You are guided through each step.

Scan its QR code or enter its 12-character MAC address or Unique ID (both printed on the device).

Assign its install location, tap Select Location > tap the Campus > Building > Floor > Room.

When prompted, apply its reconfiguration.

Complete the in-app Tests —this verifies its configuration and that its data is being received by Kontakt.io from an in-range infrastructure gateway device.

You're now ready to mount the Beam Mini. Be sure to keep the Kio Setup Manager app open to complete IR location testing.
Follow the mounting instructions.

If you have a Kontakt.io Tag within the room, you can complete the IR location testing to validate the Beam Mini's IR coverage.
Return to the Kio Setup Manager app, tap Test IR Location.
If this option is no longer displayed, you will have to repeat the install steps.
The expected outcome is the Tag is detected in the same room as the Beam Mini.
