Alongside the Device Management roles you assign to users, you can control which devices each user has access to in your Kio Cloud account. Device-level access ranges from Editor permissions, which let a user configure device settings and schedule firmware upgrades—to view-only permission. You can also set an expiration date when access needs to be time-limited.
To give a user access to every device in your Kio Cloud account, assign them the Editor All or Viewer All role instead. See About user access to Device Management. You manage roles in the Kio Cloud Users app.
Important: Only users assigned the Access Manager role in Device Management can manage and assign device-level access.
Before you begin
To grant and manage a user's access to specific devices, the following must be in place:
-
User profile and email
The user must have a profile in the Kio Cloud Users app. You'll also need the email address from their user profile when you assign device-level access.
-
User role assignment
The user must be assigned either the Editor or Viewer role in Device Management. A User Management Administrator assigns roles in the Kio Cloud Users app. If needed, you can restrict a user with the Editor role to view-only access at the device level.
-
User registration
The user being assigned device-level access must sign in to Kio Cloud and select Device Management. This step registers the user with Device Management so that an Access Manager can assign their device-level access.
Grant a user device-level access
Once the prerequisites are met, follow these steps to grant a user device-level access.
Sign in to Kio Cloud and go to Device Management.
-
From the Inventory menu, select the type of device, either Tags or Infrastructure.
Tags: devices that move—either attached to mobile equipment or worn by people. For example, Asset Tags, Smart Badges, Sticker Tags, Nano Tags.
Infrastructure: devices that stay in a fixed location and are assigned to a room in Smart Location. For example, Portal Lights, Portal Beams, Beam Minis, Anchor Beacons, Dispenser Beacons, and Temp Monitors.
-
From the list, select the devices the user needs access to.
To narrow the list, select Add Criteria. For example, to grant users access to only Smart Badges, set the criteria to Product, then set the Product filter to Smart Badge.
-
Select Bulk (which shows the number of devices the users will get access to), then select Edit Device Access.
To grant access to a single device instead, select the device from the list, then select its Device Access tab. In the Grant access to device section, enter the email address, select an Access Level, then select + Grant.
-
In the Edit Device Access window, set the following:
Operation: select Grant access.
Email: enter the email addresses of the users. Each must match the address in the user's Kio Cloud user profile.
Access Level: Editor has full edit access; Viewer has read-only access.
Users must also be assigned either the Editor or Viewer role in Device Management. If needed, you can restrict a user with the Editor role to view-only access at the device level.
By default, access never expires. To set a date when access is revoked automatically, deselect this option and select a specific date.
Select Continue to save.
Revoke a user's device-level access
Follow these steps to revoke a user's access. This applies only to users who have been granted device-level access.
Sign in to Kio Cloud and go to Device Management.

Infrastructure: devices that stay in a fixed location and are assigned to a room in Smart Location. F
