Company Settings is the Kio Cloud app used to manage shared, account-wide configuration for Kio Apps. It centralizes room management, entity management, and webhooks in a single interface.
What Company Settings contains
| Section | What it does |
|---|---|
| Room Management | Defines room types and matches them to Smart Location rooms so the Kio Apps can act on rooms by function — automating entity statuses, PAR levels, and by-type reporting |
| Entity Management | Creates and manages Entity Types and Entities — the building blocks that represent the assets or people in the Kio Apps |
| Webhooks | Configures outbound HTTP calls sent when alerts trigger in Kio Apps |
Entity Types classify the people and assets that Kio Apps work with, and each Entity you create is assigned to one Entity Type. Each Kio App refers to them in its own terms. For example:
- In Asset Tracker, Entity Types are the Asset Types and Entities are the Assets.
- In Temperature Monitoring, Entity Types are the Storage Unit Types and Entities are the Storage Units.
Who uses Company Settings
Company Settings is used by platform administrators, the team members responsible for account-wide configuration. During deployment, those responsible for the platform configuration typically need access to Company Settings.
Company Settings has two roles: Administrator and User. The Administrator role has full access to all three areas. The User role has access to Webhooks only, where it can create, view, edit, and delete webhooks. See About user access to Company Settings.
How Company Settings fits into the platform
Company Settings uses information from Smart Location and provides platform-wide configuration.
- Smart Location must be complete before rooms are available in Room Matching. Rooms are drawn in Smart Location (campus → building → floor → room), then matched to room types in Company Settings. See Room management overview.
- Entity Types and Entities defined here are used by Asset Tracker, Staff Safe, and other Kio Apps to represent the assets or people in those apps. See Entity management overview.
- Webhooks depend on Kio Apps being active; webhooks can send Kio Apps alerts to external systems. See Webhooks overview.
