Capturing and viewing a Portal Beam's real-time thermal image can assist with troubleshooting occupancy counts.
From the image, you can verify the people detected or other non-human, stationary hot objects within its field of view. A hot object could be a TV, window, or other type of electrical device. It's best practice to configure any non-human, stationary objects as an Exclusion Zone. Re-capturing an image should also be performed if you have re-positioned a Portal Beam to validate its field of view and people detection.
Complete the following steps from the Kio Setup Manager mobile app.
-
From the list of Nearby Devices, locate the Portal Beam by its Unique ID or MAC address .
-
Tap the Portal Beam to access its profile.
(Optional) To verify the Portal Beam selected, tap Flash LED. From its front-side, a BLUE colored LED flashes briefly.
-
From its Troubleshooting section, tap Verify Thermal Camera > tap Capture Image.
-
From the captured image's heatmap, verify the objects detected.
If the thermal image does not accurately identify the people detected within the room, you may need to reposition the Portal Beam and re-take the thermal image.
If there are any non-human, stationary hot objects detected or areas you want to exclude from occupancy detection, you can configure these as Exclusion Zones. When a window allows direct sunlight into a room, it's recommended to configure the window as an Exclusion Zone.

From the top section of the image, tap the cloud icon.
