A Nano Tag IR must be activated before use. Activation is one-time: once the tag is activated (powered on), it cannot be powered off, and its battery, which lasts about 14 days, starts immediately. After activation, the tag can be provisioned, meaning it is assigned and distributed to a person.
Procedure. How to activate a Nano Tag IR

Hold the tag with the front side facing you and the back side lettering facing up. Place your thumb on front bottom side and your index finger on the back side.

Press and hold the back side firmly for 3 seconds. You will feel a click when the activation starts.
Watch the front side for the blue LED indicator to flash. When it flashes, stop pressing. The flash confirms the tag's battery is activated.
Tip: No blue LED flash? Stop pressing and try again. The blue LED only flashes during activation — once activated, it will not flash on subsequent presses.
