A footfall space is a named area assigned to a Portal Beam operating in Footfall mode. The beam counts people moving between the footfall spaces assigned to its Inbound and Outbound directions. Create footfall spaces before installing Portal Beams in Footfall mode. The spaces must exist before sensor associations can be configured.
Before you begin
- Signed in to Kio Cloud with the Smart Location Administrator or Creator role
- Deployment plan identifying which thresholds (doorways, corridor entrances) will have Portal Beams in Footfall mode
Steps
- Open Smart Location from the Kio Cloud Launchpad.
- In the navigation, select Footfall.
- Select Add Footfall.
- Enter a Footfall Name for the space (for example, "Main entrance: inbound" or "Ward A entry").
- Select Save.
Repeat for each footfall space in the deployment. A Portal Beam in Footfall mode does not require two footfall spaces. You assign footfall spaces to the beam's Inbound and Outbound directions, and each direction is optional: a single doorway or entryway can use a single-direction count (one or more Inbound spaces, with Outbound left empty), while an area you count both ways uses both directions.
What happens next
During sensor assignment in Smart Location, you assign footfall spaces to each Footfall-mode sensor's Inbound and Outbound directions. Traffic data then flows to the spaces you created.
