Configuring Advanced Preferences sets the company-wide rules for how Monitors record readings and how quickly excursions become alerts. Set these to match your facility's compliance requirements. A change applies across all Storage Units and Rooms.
Before you begin
- You are signed in to Temperature Monitoring with the System Manager role. Advanced Preferences is System Manager only; no other role, including the Administrator, can view or change it.
- You know the values your facility requires for logging rate, alert delays, and temperature unit.
Steps
- From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, open Temperature Monitoring.
- Go to Settings > Advanced. The page header reads Advanced preferences.
- Select Edit.
- Set the temperature unit to Celsius or Fahrenheit.
- Set the logging rate within threshold and the logging rate out of threshold.
- Set the out-of-threshold delay: how long a reading must stay out of range before an alert is triggered.
- Set the alert arming delay: how long to wait after a Monitor starts reporting before threshold alerts can trigger.
- Select Confirm changes. The confirmation dialog shows how many devices the change affects and that they enter sync mode for about half an hour.
- Select Yes, update.
Result
The settings apply across the system. Monitors show Syncing while a logging-rate or delay change propagates, over the next several minutes, and keep logging locally so no readings are lost. New readings and alerts follow the updated settings.
Important: Changing the temperature unit affects new readings only. Readings already recorded keep their original unit, so existing reports are not converted.
Set preferences for a single department
If your facility has enabled additional preferences by location, a System Manager can override the company defaults for one department. This capability is available only when your organization's Kio account has it turned on. When it is off, Advanced preferences apply company-wide with no per-department option.
When it is on, the Additional preferences by location section appears on the Advanced preferences page. Despite the section name, overrides apply by Department only. There is no per-campus, per-Storage Unit, or per-Monitor override.
- On the Advanced preferences page, find Additional preferences by location.
- Select Add override. The Add department override dialog opens.
- Choose the Department the override applies to. The scope cannot be changed after you create the override.
- For each setting (temperature unit, the two logging rates, the out-of-threshold delay, and the alert arming delay), leave it at the company default to inherit that value, or change it to set a department-specific value. Each field starts pre-filled with the current company default.
- Select Save override.
To return a department to the company defaults, select the revert action on its row in the Additional preferences by location list and confirm. Any overridden values are lost.
