The Tools screen in Kio Setup Manager provides field utilities for verifying, diagnosing, and maintaining Kontakt.io devices after installation. These tools are used by deployment teams during post-installation validation and by field engineers during on-site troubleshooting.
Available tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Location Validation | Confirms that a device's Smart Location assignment matches its physical position and that the Location Engine is receiving data from it |
| Telemetry Sync | Triggers an immediate data sync from a device to Kio Cloud, rather than waiting for the next automatic sync interval |
| Beam Troubleshooting | Runs on-site diagnostics for a Portal Beam or Beam Mini — including thermal camera verification, IR testing, and recalibration |
| Portal Light Troubleshooting | Runs on-site diagnostics for a Portal Light and provides guided resolution steps for common issues |
Note: The UAT Cases section is also available in the Tools screen for field engineers and specific organizational roles. These test cases validate infrastructure and device behavior as part of a formal deployment acceptance process.
Who can use the tools
All tools are available to users with the Device Management role. Beam and Portal Light diagnostics are primarily used by deployment teams during and immediately after installation. UAT Cases are intended for field engineers conducting formal deployment acceptance testing.
When to use the tools
Use the Tools screen after completing device installations to verify each device is behaving correctly before leaving the site. If Device Health later reports an issue with a specific device, the Beam and Portal Light troubleshooting tools provide on-site diagnostic capability without requiring a support escalation.
