The floor view shows a floor in real time: its rooms, the devices placed on it, and the people or assets currently located there. Use it to confirm a deployment is working, to see where Tags and badges are, or to follow a single asset as it moves.
The floor view is read-only. It shows the current state of the floor; it does not change the floor's setup.
Before you begin
- Signed in to Kio Cloud with any Smart Location role (User, Creator, or Administrator)
- Floor plan set up, with rooms drawn and devices placed
Open the floor view
- Open Smart Location from the Kio Cloud Launchpad.
- Navigate to the floor, or select it from Last viewed floors in the navigation.
The floor opens with its plan as the base map and its room boundaries drawn on top.
Choose what the map shows
The map has a filter panel where you turn layers on and off. The panel adapts to the floor: some layers are always available, a couple appear only when the floor has the matching data, and the infrastructure layers are built from the device models actually placed on the floor — so you get a separate toggle for each kind of device on that floor.
Always available
- Rooms: the room boundaries on the floor.
- Badges & Tags: the last-known room location of moving devices, such as Asset Tags, Smart Badges, and Nano Tags.
Shown when the floor has the data
- Occupancy: a per-room count of how many people are in each room. Appears when the floor has occupancy data.
- Gateways: gateways at their placed locations. Appears when the floor has gateways.
One toggle for each infrastructure device type on the floor
A separate toggle appears for each model of infrastructure device placed on the floor, so the list matches your deployment. Depending on what's installed, these can include:
- Portal Beam — and Traffic Portal Beam for a Portal Beam running in footfall mode
- Beam IR (Portal Beam IR)
- Beam Mini and Beam Mini 2
- Anchor Beacon and Anchor Beacon 2
- Dispenser beacon, Universal dispenser beacon, and ES10 dispenser beacon
- Temp Monitor Pro and Temp Monitor Lite
- Partner Device — a third-party or partner infrastructure device
- Reference — stationary reference devices that aren't tied to a specific device model
Only the device types present on the floor appear; a floor with no dispenser beacons, for example, won't show that toggle.
Turn on the layers relevant to what you're checking. For a coverage or device check, show Gateways and the infrastructure devices. To see where people and assets are, show Badges & Tags or Occupancy.
Find a specific device or location
Use the search control on the map to find a room or a device by name. The map centers on the result.
Follow an asset
Follow mode keeps the map centered on a single asset as it moves across the floor in real time.
- Select the asset on the map.
- Turn on Follow for that asset.
The map keeps the followed asset in view as its position updates. Turn off follow mode to stop following it.
What happens next
If a device shows in the wrong room, or location data doesn't match the physical position of a person or asset, see Troubleshooting: Device showing wrong room.
