Rooms are the foundational location unit every Kontakt.io solution consumes. These are the properties that define each room on the room form. A room's type is not on this form — it is fixed when the room is drawn (see Room types below).
| Property | Required | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | Max 50 characters. Cannot be whitespace only. Does not need to be unique across the account; unique naming is recommended for usability. |
| Seats | No | Up to 6 per room or virtual room. Choose how many seats the space has, then give each a name. Smart Location places the seat markers on the map. |
Room types
A room's type is set by the drawing tool you choose, not by a field on the room form.
| Type | Drawing tool | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| Room | Add room | Standard enclosed space (patient room, office, lab, exam room) |
| Corridor | Add corridor | Hallway or passage between rooms |
| Virtual | Add virtual room | Open area without enclosed walls — open-concept or large spaces (e.g., a workstation area with multiple seats measured by a Portal Beam) |
| Parking Lot | (auto-created with the parking level — not drawn) | A parking level's single location area |
Seat properties
| Property | Required | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Seat Name/Id | Yes | Label for the seat (e.g., "Seat 1", "Desk B") |
You set the number of seats and a name for each; Smart Location places the seat markers on the map. Maximum 6 seats per room or virtual room.
