Entity Manager is the Kio Cloud app for managing your organization's assets and staff. It gives you one place to view, create, and update every asset and staff member across your Kio Apps, and to assign each one its Kontakt.io tag or Smart Badge.
Assets, staff, and entities
Entity Manager works with two kinds of entity, each on its own page:
- Assets: equipment, such as an IV pump, a wheelchair, or a piece of biomedical equipment.
- Staff: people, such as nurses or clinical staff, who wear a Smart Badge.
Both are kinds of entity — the shared term for a single asset or staff member. Whether an entity is an asset or a staff member depends on its type (an Asset Type or a Staff Role). The type is set when the entity is created and controls which details and settings the entity has.
Where Entity Manager fits
The same entity can belong to more than one Kio App. An IV pump created for Asset Tracker, for example, can also appear in another app that uses the same entity. Entity Manager is the single view across all of them: it shows every asset and staff member, no matter which Kio App it is shared with.
Entity Manager works alongside two other parts of Kio Cloud:
- Company Settings is where Asset Types and Staff Roles (Entity Types) are created and edited. Entity Manager uses those types but does not create them.
- Device Management holds your inventory of tags and Smart Badges. Entity Manager assigns an existing tag to an entity but does not add tags to your account.
What you can do in Entity Manager
- Find any asset or staff member, and filter or search the list.
- Create a new asset or staff member.
- Edit an entity's name, type, settings, group membership, status, and notes.
- Assign a tag to an asset or a Smart Badge to a staff member, or reassign it to a different one.
- See at a glance when an entity is also used in other Kio Apps.
- Import assets and staff in bulk from a CSV file, and export the current list to CSV.
What Entity Manager does not do
Entity Manager is focused on the entities themselves. It does not create Asset Types or Staff Roles or include alerts and analytics — those belong to the Kio Apps, Entity Manager also has no delete action on the list — to remove an entity, an administrator uses Company Settings.
