Use the Alert Rules list to review, edit, copy, activate, deactivate, or delete Alert Rules.
Each rule shows its status, alert name, alert type, what it applies to, location, severity, conditions, and configured actions. Use this page to keep alert coverage and notifications up to date as your Storage Units, Rooms, Monitors, teams, or response workflows change.
Before you begin
- You’re signed in to Temperature Monitoring with the Administrator or System Manager role.
View and find Alert Rules
- From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, open Temperature Monitoring.
- Go to Settings > Alert Rules.
- Review the Alert Rules list.
Each rule shows:
- Status: Whether the rule is active.
- Alert Name: The rule name. Select the name to open and edit the rule.
- Alert Type: The type of alert the rule triggers.
- Applies to: The Storage Units, Rooms, or Monitors covered by the rule.
- Locations: The campus, building, or floor covered by the rule.
- Severity: The severity assigned to alerts triggered by the rule.
- Conditions: The condition associated with the alert type.
- Actions: The notification methods or integrations configured for the rule.
Use Search to find a rule by name or other searchable rule details.
Edit an Alert Rule
You can edit a rule from the Alert Rules list.
Select the Alert Name, or select the edit icon in the Actions column.
Update the rule details as needed, such as:
- Rule name or description
- Severity
- Locations
- Storage Units, Rooms, or Monitors covered by the rule
- Notification recipients and channels
- Reminders
- Escalations
Review the Summary step.
Select Save.
Changes apply to alerts triggered after you save the rule. Existing alerts are not changed.
Copy an Alert Rule
Copy an Alert Rule when you want to create a similar rule without starting from scratch.
In the Alert Rules list, find the rule you want to copy.
In the Actions column, select the copy icon.
Review each step in the copied rule, especially:
- Rule name
- Locations
- Storage Units, Rooms, or Monitors covered by the rule
- Notification recipients and channels
- Reminders
- Escalations
Select Save.
The copied rule opens with the original rule settings pre-filled. Update anything that should be different before saving.
Activate or deactivate an Alert Rule
Use the status toggle to turn an Alert Rule on or off.
- In the Alert Rules list, find the rule you want to update.
- In the Status column, turn the toggle on or off.
An active rule can trigger alerts and send notifications. An inactive rule does not trigger alerts or send notifications.
Temperature Monitoring can still detect and record excursions or device issues for Storage Units, Rooms, or Monitors covered by an inactive rule, but no alert is triggered until the rule is active again.
Delete an Alert Rule
Delete a rule only when it is no longer needed.
- In the Alert Rules list, find the rule you want to delete.
- In the Actions column, select the delete icon.
- Confirm the deletion.
Deleting a rule does not affect alerts that were already triggered.
If the deleted rule was the only active rule covering a Storage Unit, Room, or Monitor, that item is no longer covered by an active Alert Rule. In the Monitoring view, it may show Alert setup required until it is added to another active rule.
Result
Your Alert Rules list reflects the current alert setup.
To confirm coverage, check the Monitoring view. A Storage Unit, Room, or Monitor with no active Alert Rule shows Alert setup required.
