A Threshold Setting defines the acceptable range for a Storage Unit or Room: the high and low temperature, the high and low humidity, or both. It is the standard a reading is measured against. A reading that stays outside the range longer than the threshold alert delay is an excursion.
A Threshold Setting is the piece that makes monitoring meaningful. A Monitor with no Threshold Setting records readings but never detects an excursion, because nothing defines what out of range means.
What a Threshold Setting contains

The low value must be below the high value for each range.
Threshold Settings are reusable
A Threshold Setting is a template, not a per-unit value. One setting can be assigned to many Storage Units or Rooms that share the same range, such as every 2–8°C vaccine refrigerator.
This makes maintenance simple and is also the most important thing to know before editing one—changing the values on a Threshold Setting changes the range for every Storage Unit and Room it is assigned to. To change one Storage Unit or Room only, assign it a different Threshold Setting rather than editing the shared one.
Storage Unit types and Room type
A Threshold Setting's type matches where it is used:
- A Storage Units Threshold Setting is assigned to refrigerators, freezers, and other enclosed storage, and is applied during installation or in the Storage Units management view.
- A Rooms Threshold Setting is assigned to monitored spaces, and is applied when a Monitor is installed for the room or afterward in the Monitoring view.
Create the setting with the type that matches where you intend to use it.

Because a setting is reusable, the one "Vaccine refrigerator 2–8°C" setting can be assigned to every 2–8°C refrigerator across your sites, and its range is what determines when any of those units records an excursion.
