Creating a Threshold Setting defines an acceptable range you can assign to Storage Units or Rooms. Create the settings you need before you assign Monitors, so each Storage Unit or Room can be given its range during or after installation.
Before you begin
- You are signed in with the Administrator or System Manager role.
- You know the required range for the Storage Unit or Room (for example, 2 to 8°C for a vaccine refrigerator) from your facility's procedures or the manufacturer's guidance.
Steps
- From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, open Temperature Monitoring.
- Go to Settings > Threshold Settings.
- Select Create new.
- Choose what the Threshold applies to: Storage Units—Temperature (inside unit), Storage Units—Temperature & Humidity (inside unit), or Rooms—Ambient Temperature & Humidity. Select Next.
- Enter a Name of up to 35 characters that includes the range, such as Vaccine refrigerator 2 to 8°C, then enter the low and high values for each range. The low value must be below the high value. Select Next.
- Review the settings, then select Save.
Note: Each Threshold Setting name must be unique. If the name is already in use, an error appears on the name field and you can change it before saving.
Note: In Celsius, values can be set in half-degree steps (for example, 2.5°C). In Fahrenheit, values are whole degrees.
Result
The Threshold Setting appears in the list and is available to assign to Storage Units or Rooms with a matching type. It does nothing until it is assigned. Assigning it to a Storage Unit or Room is what makes excursions detectable.
Tip: Create one Threshold Setting per distinct range and reuse it across all Storage Units and Rooms that share that range. Editing the shared setting later updates every assigned Storage Unit and Room at once.
Tip: Use a consistent naming convention that includes the range, such as Refrigerator 2 to 8°C or Vaccine Freezer -25 to -15°C. Range-based names help installers pick the correct setting when they assign one to each Storage Unit and Room.
