Log collection downloads diagnostic logs directly from the Portal Light over Bluetooth. Logs contain detailed technical information about device activity and errors. Collect logs when Kontakt.io support requests them as part of a support investigation.
Before you begin
- Signed in to Kio Setup Manager with the Device Management role
- Portal Light is powered on and within Bluetooth range of your mobile device
- Support request open with Kontakt.io (log collection is typically performed at support's request)
Steps
Open the device detail view for the Portal Light:
- Tap Devices > Nearby and select it from the nearby list, or
- Tap Scan and scan the QR code on the device label
Tap the actions menu and select Collect logs.
If prompted about a device reboot, confirm whether to reboot:
- Tap Collect with reboot if support has instructed you to reboot the device during log collection
- Tap Collect without reboot to collect logs from the currently running device
Note: A reboot with log collection takes approximately 30 seconds longer than collection without a reboot. The Portal Light goes offline briefly during the reboot and returns to normal operation automatically.
Kio Setup Manager reads the logs from the Portal Light over Bluetooth. Progress messages appear:
- Searching Bluetooth device
- Verifying nearby device
- Reading device logs
When collection is complete, share or copy the log output as directed by support.
What happens next
The logs are collected and available to share with Kontakt.io support. The Portal Light continues normal operation after log collection. If a reboot was performed, the Portal Light reconnects to Wi-Fi and Kio Cloud within 1–3 minutes.
