Each staff member you want to measure needs a Staff profile. The profile carries their Staff ID, their Staff Role, and the Smart Badge assigned to them.
Before you begin
- You have the Administrator, User, or Contact tracer role in Hand Hygiene. Administrators have access to Staff from Settings > Staff; the User and Contact tracer roles have access to the same staff profiles from Management > Staff. The steps below are identical either way.
- From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, open Hand Hygiene.
- From the Settings menu, select Staff. (As a User or Contact tracer, go to Management > Staff instead.)
- Select Create Staff.
- Configure the following:
- Staff Role: from the dropdown list, select the staff member's role.
- Staff ID: must be a unique value. Duplicates are not allowed. This is often the staff member's ID in another system, such as your HR or scheduling tool. On Management > Staff, the Staff ID can't be changed after the profile is created; an Administrator can change it from Settings > Staff.
- Name: identifies the staff member in Compliance Analytics. Duplicates are allowed. It acts as an alias of the Staff ID.
- Assigned Tag: select the Kontakt.io Smart Badge being given to the staff member. Search by the badge's Unique ID or MAC address, which are printed on the badge. The list shows only badges that are not already assigned to someone. A Smart Badge can also be assigned later during badge provisioning.
- Assigned Home Location: the staff member's home base, set as a Facility and a Department. This is what fills the Home Department column and the Team filter, so set it now — see below.
- Attributes: when the assigned Staff Role has required attributes, you'll need to provide these values now.
- Select Create. The staff member appears in the Staff list.
To add the staff member to Groups or set their Healthcare Role, open their staff profile after it is created and select Edit. Neither is part of the create step.
Home Department
The Home Department column in the Staff list shows each staff member's home department, used for filtering and grouping in Compliance Analytics.
It comes from the Assigned Home Location section of the staff profile — two dedicated fields, Facility and Department — not from the staff member's attributes. Set it when you create the staff member, or add it later by opening their staff profile and selecting Edit.
Home Department is the same value Compliance Analytics filters on as Team, which asks which department a staff member belongs to rather than where an opportunity happened. A staff member with no Assigned Home Location is missing from every Team filter and Team ranking, so fill it in for anyone whose numbers need to roll up to their own unit.
