When a Smart Badge stops working or its battery is depleted, assign a replacement badge to the same staff profile. The staff member's profile and compliance history are retained.
You can replace a badge in the Kio Entity Manager mobile app or the Hand Hygiene web app. Either way, assigning the replacement badge removes the old badge from the staff profile; there's no separate step to unassign it first.
Replace a badge in Kio Entity Manager
Before you begin
- You have the Mobile User role in Entity Manager.
- Bluetooth enabled on your mobile device.
- Internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular) on your mobile device.
- You have the replacement badge and the staff member's Staff ID, either on their ID badge to scan or to enter by hand.
Kio Entity Manager communicates with the badge over Bluetooth, and uses the internet connection to sync the assignment back to Kio Cloud. Both connections are required.
Steps
- Open the Kio Entity Manager mobile app and select Assign Badge to Staff.
- Scan the QR code on the front of the replacement badge. To enter it by hand instead, select Enter MAC / ID on iOS or Enter MAC on Android, enter the badge's MAC address or Unique ID, and select Submit.
- Scan the barcode that identifies the staff member's Staff ID. To enter it by hand instead, select Enter Staff ID, enter the Staff ID, and select Submit.
- On the Summary screen, check the Staff ID and the badge, review the device note, and select Next.
- When Success! Badge Assigned appears, give the replacement badge to the staff member.
If Badge ID Not Found appears with The scanned or entered ID does not exist in Kio Cloud., the replacement badge isn't in your organization's Kio account yet. Confirm the badge's Order ID is claimed in Device Management, then try again. See Claim and add devices with your Kontakt.io Order ID.
If Badge Cannot Be Assigned appears, the replacement badge is already assigned to another staff member. Select Assign Different Badge and use another badge.
Replace a badge in Hand Hygiene
Before you begin
- You have the Administrator, User, or Contact tracer role in Hand Hygiene.
Steps
- Open Hand Hygiene and go to the staff list:
- Administrator: from the Settings menu, select Staff.
- User or Contact tracer: from the Management menu, select Staff.
- Select the staff member's Name or Staff ID to open their profile, then select Edit.
- Under Assigned Tag, open the list. The current badge is marked (currently assigned).
- Search for the replacement badge by its Unique ID or full MAC address, and select it. It replaces the current badge; you don't need to clear the current one first.
- Select Save.
- Give the replacement badge to the staff member.
Result
The replacement badge is assigned to the staff member's profile, and the old badge is no longer assigned to anyone. The staff member's compliance history stays with their profile.
