Managing your Kontakt.io device firmware when integrated with Cisco Spaces must be completed from Cisco Spaces. This article walks you through the process of identifying and upgrading firmware for Kontakt.io devices directly within the Cisco Spaces interface. You can learn more about the latest firmware releases from our firmware changelog.
-
You must have admin or appropriate access to Cisco Spaces > IoT Services.
-
The Kontakt.io device must be powered on and connected (online).
-
Cisco Spaces will only show firmware upgrade options when a new version is available for a device.
-
Log in to Cisco Spaces.
-
Navigate to IoT Services > Device Management (for the Beta version, select Manage).
-
Select Devices > Floor beacons.
-
From the Firmware column, identify a device with an available upgrade > select the device’s MAC address > go to the Firmware Management section > select the upgrade icon.
-
Wait for the upgrade request to complete—the Request History should immediately show it's in progress.
-
Post-upgrade check:
Refresh the device detail view after a few minutes.
Confirm that the updated firmware version is displayed within the device's Firmware column.
Optionally, check the Request History section to verify upgrade success and timestamps.
