Installing a Temperature Monitor using Kio Setup Manager assigns the device to a Storage Unit or Room in Temperature Monitoring and applies the Threshold Setting that defines the acceptable reading range. Complete this workflow for each Temperature Monitor in your deployment.
For Temp Monitor Pro placement guidelines and detailed probe configuration steps, see the full installation articles: Install a Temp Monitor Pro · Install a Temp Monitor Lite.
Before you begin
- Signed in to Kio Setup Manager with both the Device Management role and the Device Management Temp Monitor Installer role. Both roles are required — the installation workflow will not be available without them.
- Smart Location is complete — campus, building, floor, and rooms are created, and departments are set up with rooms assigned
- Temperature Monitor device order is claimed in Device Management
- Storage Units are created in Temperature Monitoring (required when monitoring a Storage Unit)
- Threshold Settings are created in Temperature Monitoring
- Device is physically placed or mounted at its installation location; for Temp Monitor Pro, probes are routed and positioned before starting
Steps
Open Kio Setup Manager and tap Install in the bottom navigation bar.
Scroll to find the Temperature Monitor tile and tap it.
Select the device model: Temp Monitor Pro or Temp Monitor Lite.
Tap Enter MAC / Unique ID, type the device's Unique ID or MAC address from the label, and tap Submit.
-
Select the installation type:
Installation type Use when Room The Monitor measures ambient temperature and humidity in a room (no probes) Storage Unit The Monitor measures inside a refrigerator, freezer, warmer, or incubator using external probes Both (Temp Monitor Pro only) The Monitor measures both the ambient room and one or two Storage Units simultaneously Tap Next.
If a Paused Mode screen appears, tap Pause Now to put the device in configuration mode. If the screen shows Paused Mode ON, tap Next to continue.
Tap Choose location and navigate through the Smart Location hierarchy — tap the campus, building, floor, and room. Tap Next to confirm.
Select the Threshold Setting for this location and tap Next.
-
(Temp Monitor Pro — Storage Unit and Both installations only) On the Configure connected probes screen, configure each probe:
- Tap Probe, Configure, then tap Enter Probe Serial Number and enter the serial number printed on the probe. Tap Submit.
- Tap Storage Unit, Not assigned and select the Storage Unit this probe monitors. Tap Yes, Assign to confirm.
- Tap Threshold Setting, Not assigned and select the Threshold Setting for that Storage Unit.
Tap Next when all probes are configured.
On the Add device note screen, add an optional note (such as the device's physical location in the room), then tap Next.
Review the Setup complete summary. Confirm the location, Threshold Setting, and probe assignments are correct, then tap Confirm.
When Installation Success! appears, tap Exit.
Important: A Storage Unit or Room without a Threshold Setting assigned cannot generate alerts. Verify the Threshold Setting is applied before leaving the site.
What happens next
The Temperature Monitor begins sampling and logging readings. The Storage Unit or Room appears in the Temperature Monitoring Monitoring view with its current status. The system applies a 5-minute arming delay before threshold alerts can trigger — this allows readings to stabilize.
If the Storage Unit or Room shows Alert setup required, no Alert Rule covers this location. Configure an Alert Rule in Temperature Monitoring to receive notifications.
If the Monitor does not appear in Temperature Monitoring within 5 minutes, see Troubleshooting: Monitor not reporting.
