Installing an Anchor Beacon assigns it to a room in Smart Location. No Wi-Fi setup or mode selection is required. Once assigned, the Anchor Beacon begins serving as a location reference for nearby Tags.
Before you begin
- Device Management role assigned in Kio Cloud
- Kio Setup Manager installed and signed in
- Anchor Beacon order claimed in Device Management
- Smart Location complete — campus, building, floor, and rooms created
- Anchor Beacon physically mounted at its intended location
- Bluetooth enabled on your mobile device
Steps
- Tap Install in the bottom navigation bar.
- Select Reference Beacon.
- Locate the Anchor Beacon in the list. If it does not appear, move closer to the device and pull down to refresh the list.
- Tap the Anchor Beacon you want to install.
- Select the Smart Location assignment — campus, building, floor, and room — where the Anchor Beacon is mounted.
- Tap Install to confirm.
Kio Setup Manager confirms the assignment and marks the device as installed.
What happens next
The Anchor Beacon is assigned to its Smart Location room and begins broadcasting as a location reference. Tags that enter its Bluetooth range will use it to report their position.
If you are installing Anchor Beacons across a floor, complete all assignments before activating Tags on that floor. Tags that power on before all Anchor Beacons are assigned may report incomplete location data.
Verify the Anchor Beacon appears in Device Management with the correct room assignment before leaving the site.
