Kio Nurse Assistant is a phone app for clinical staff. It has two features: it shows you your own hand hygiene compliance, and it finds equipment by its real-time location. Which of them you see depends on the roles you hold.
Two apps behind one sign-in
Kio Nurse Assistant is the mobile companion to two Kio Apps.
Hand Hygiene activity — your own compliance, how your department is doing against others this season, and the rewards you have earned. You see your own results and department-level summaries; other staff appear without names.
Finding equipment — the equipment in Asset Tracker, shown by its real-time location, ordered from where you work. This is the mobile companion to the Asset Tracker web app.
The two share nothing but the sign-in. They have different screens, different roles, and answer different questions.
What you see after signing in
What the app opens on depends on your roles:
- Both roles — the app asks Choose what you'd like to do, and you pick a mode. You can switch at any time.
- One role — the app opens straight into that mode. There is no chooser.
Most staff hold one role and never see the chooser.
What each mode contains
Hand Hygiene has three tabs:
| Tab | What you see |
|---|---|
| Journey | Today's compliance score and status, your Best score this quarter, Day Streak, Good Days this month, points for the season, your rank within your department, and a 7-day chart |
| Race | How your department is placed against other departments this season, and what you have contributed |
| Rewards | Your Raffle tickets, the next drawing and its prizes, prizes you have won, and recent earnings |
All three tabs are always shown; no setting hides Race or Rewards.
Finding equipment has three tabs:
| Tab | What you see |
|---|---|
| Find | Search, and your quick picks with counts of what is ready |
| Floor | Equipment room by room on the floor plan, as a list or a map. On Android, this tab is named Equipment until a building is set. |
| Settings | Your workplace, filters, quick picks, and positioning |
Platform availability
Kio Nurse Assistant is a phone app, available from the App Store and Google Play. It is not designed for tablets. You need an iPhone with iOS 18 or later, or an Android phone with Android 8 or later.
The two platforms are not equivalent:
| iPhone | Android | |
|---|---|---|
| Hand Hygiene activity | Yes | Not available |
| Finding equipment | Yes | Yes |
| Indoor navigation — live position, distances, walk times | Where your organization has it enabled | Not available |
The Android app finds equipment only. It has no Hand Hygiene screens. Staff who need to see their own compliance need an iPhone.
What you need to use it
Access comes from two roles in the Kio Nurse (Mobile) section of the Users app: Hand Hygiene User and Asset Tracking User. On iPhone, you need at least one to sign in.
For Hand Hygiene the app has to know which staff member you are, which the platform resolves by matching your Unique Ext. ID to your Staff ID. Finding equipment doesn't need a staff profile, so it has no such requirement. See About user access to Kio Nurse Assistant.
Where your settings live
Your workplace, quick picks, and filters are saved on the phone you are using, not in your account. Signing in on another phone starts fresh. On a shared ward phone, iPhone keeps each staff member's settings separately for their own account, so nobody sees someone else's. On Android, signing out clears them.
Privacy and intended use
Kio Nurse Assistant shows data the platform already records. It does not collect anything new and does not report anything new about you.
For Hand Hygiene, you see your own results plus department-level summaries, and other staff appear without names. Hand Hygiene is designed for trend analysis and coaching, not individual disciplinary use, and the app follows the same intent.
