A Portal Light, offered in three models, is Kontakt.io's Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) to Wi-Fi gateway device. It scans and detects Kontakt.io IoT BLE devices and sends the received data to Kio Cloud over the facility's existing Wi-Fi network.
Portal Light
Cable Free. This BLE to Wi-Fi gateway plugs right into the wall. No need for costly installation.
Keeps Sockets Free. Power passthrough lets you power the device without losing an outlet.
Secure. Support encrypted payload — cloud-enforced security for IoT edge device.
IT-Friendly. Works with your existing Wi-Fi network, Cisco, Wi-Fi 6, Kontakt.io, and other BLE gateways.
BLE Connected, Cloud Managed. Easily push firmware over the air and monitor device health.
Portal Light 2
Cable Free. This BLE to Wi-Fi gateway plugs right into the wall. No need for costly installation.
Compact Design. The slimmer profile means the device doesn’t block neighboring outlets or passthroughs.
Keeps Sockets Free. Power passthrough lets you power the device without losing an outlet.
2.4 And 5 GHz Wi-Fi Support. Increase reliability and flexibility of your network connection.
Two Concurrent BLE Channels. Two BLE channels means the device can listen and push updates at the same time.
IT-Friendly. Works with your existing Wi-Fi network, Cisco, Wi-Fi 6, Kontakt.io, and other BLE gateways.
BLE Connected, Cloud Managed. Easily push firmware over the air and monitor device health.
Portal Light 2 IR
Cable Free. Plugs into your existing smart light controller socket.
Real Time Navigation. Built-in IR transmitter sends room ID for easy, turn-by-turn wayfinding.
IT-Friendly. Works with your existing Wi-Fi network, Cisco, Wi-Fi 6, Kontakt.io, and other BLE gateways.
BLE Connected, Cloud Managed. Easily push firmware over the air and monitor device health.
Unique ID and MAC address
Visual LED status indicator
Passthrough outlet (Portal Light, Portal Light 2 models)
Over-the-Air (OTA) configuration and firmware updates, including nearby Kontakt.io IoT Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices configuration and firmware updates
Built-in watchdog mechanism triggering device restart after one minute without sending data to event/collect endpoint. Watchdog is off when the device is not connected to the network.
Single scanning window can report the detection of up to 30 BLE devices per second
No parsing of scans on hardware level; performed on Cloud level
Upload of detection data every five seconds
Monitored BLE channels: 37, 38, 39
During connection with BLE device and uploading configuration, BLE scanning is stopped
Scanning advertisement and scan response packet.
