Many Kontakt.io devices have power-saving options that conserve power to extend battery life. Power saving can be managed by device movement, a 7-day hourly schedule, a timed broadcasting sequence, or ambient light levels. In power-saving mode, a device uses less energy by broadcasting less often and turning off non-essential hardware sensors. For details about each mode, see About device power saving management.
How to configure a device for power saving
From Kio Cloud, go to Device Management.
From the Inventory menu, select the category of the device you're updating, either Tags or Infrastructure.
From the list, select the device.
From its profile, select the Power Saving tab.
-
From the Power Saving Mode setting, select a mode.
Mode Description Movement-based Broadcasting For devices with an accelerometer, power saving is managed by movement. The device conserves battery power when it isn't moving. Active Broadcasting Windows The device follows a timed sequence that sets how many seconds it stays awake and broadcasting normally. When the awake period ends, the device goes to sleep (power-saving mode) and stops broadcasting for a set number of minutes. The sequence repeats continuously. Working Hours The device follows a broadcast schedule based on hours of operation in a 7-day, hour-by-hour calendar. The device conserves battery power during non-working hours. Brightness Level For devices with a light sensor, power saving is managed by the ambient light level. The device conserves power when the lights are off at night. The device now needs to synchronize to receive and apply the pending configuration update from Kio Cloud.
Synchronize pending configuration updates
When you update a setting on a Tag, Portal Beam, or Anchor Beacon, the device shows a Pending Update status and must synchronize with Kio Cloud to receive and apply the update.
A device synchronizes in any of these ways. For the full picture, see About synchronizing devices to receive pending configuration updates.
