Keeping your Kontakt.io devices on the latest firmware is an important part of managing them. With the Kio Setup Manager app, you can upgrade device firmware locally, onsite, over Bluetooth. Use this method if your deployment doesn't have a Portal Light infrastructure. If it does, see Schedule firmware upgrades with Managed Firmware Upgrades.
Before you begin
Sign in to the Kio Setup Manager app on your mobile device.
Turn on Bluetooth and bring your mobile device within Bluetooth range of the device you want to update.
Find devices that have a firmware update

Tap the Devices tab, then select the Nearby Devices view.
A small status icon appears next to a device when it has an update waiting:
Pending configuration — the device has a configuration update from Kio Cloud waiting to be applied.
Firmware update available — a newer firmware version can be installed now.
Firmware update scheduled — a firmware upgrade is already queued for this device through Managed Firmware Upgrades. You don't need to update it locally.
Tip: If the app can't find a Kontakt.io device or won't let you perform an action, turn Bluetooth off and then on again, then wait for the app to connect to the device. Make sure you have the latest app version; allowing automatic app updates is recommended. If the issue continues, close the Kio Setup Manager app and any other open apps using Bluetooth, then reopen the Kio Setup Manager app.
Upgrade a device's firmware
In the Devices tab, tap the device you want to update.

Start the update:
iOS app: Tap Update to Firmware [version]. In the Firmware Update notice, confirm that you want to proceed.
Android app: Tap Firmware Upgrade. When asked "Do you agree for the firmware upgrade of your device?", tap Update.

Wait for the update to finish. The app shows the progress as the firmware installs.
On completion, the device briefly shows an Out of range status while it reconnects and refreshes. To apply another available update, return to the device list and repeat these steps until no further update is offered.
The firmware downloads to the device automatically, which can take a few minutes. During the update, keep your mobile device within Bluetooth range of the device.
