Smart Location is organized around the places and groupings your Kio Apps use. From the left navigation menu, you can open the dashboard, manage the location hierarchy, and configure departments, spaces, and footfall areas.
Navigation menu
The left navigation menu includes these pages and shortcuts.
| Page | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | The Smart Location home view. Use it to view overall device counts, review the campus hierarchy, check live statistics, and identify floors where devices may be offline or missing. |
| Last viewed floors | Quick links to floors you opened recently. Use them to return to a floor without navigating through the full hierarchy. |
| Campuses | The full location hierarchy: campuses, buildings, floors, and rooms. Use Campuses to set up and manage the hierarchy, upload floor plans, draw floor outlines, and add rooms. |
| Footfall | Creating and managing footfall spaces used by Portal Beam traffic counting. |
| Spaces | Creating and managing named groupings of rooms and seats used to aggregate occupancy data. |
| Departments | Creating and managing department room groupings used by apps for views, dashboards, reports, and department-based access. |
What you can access depends on your role
- The User role has read-only access to the dashboard and the location hierarchy.
- Footfall, Spaces, and Departments require the Creator or Administrator role. If you have the User role, these items are not available to you.
For the full breakdown, see Smart Location roles.
Setup, monitoring, and settings
The menu separates the three kinds of work you do in Smart Location:
- Set up your spaces under Campuses — this is where a deployment is built, from campus down to rooms.
- Monitor a deployment from the Dashboard — device counts and per-floor health, plus access to each floor's live view and coverage heatmap.
- Configure groupings under Footfall, Spaces, and Departments — the named areas other Kio Apps use to report occupancy and organize views.
