In Entity Manager, add a new asset to your account from the Assets page.
Before you begin
- You have the Asset Manager role. See About user access to Entity Manager.
- The Asset Type you need already exists. Asset Types (Entity Types) are created in Company Settings.
- The Kontakt.io order ID has been claimed in Device Management and not yet assigned to another entity.
Steps
- From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, select Entity Manager.
- Go to Assets.
- Select Create Asset.
- In External ID, enter the identifier you use for this asset, such as an asset number. The External ID must be 2 to 36 characters and unique in your account.
- In Name, enter a display name. The name is optional — if you leave it blank, the asset shows by its External ID.
- Choose the Asset Type. The list shows all Asset Types in your account; enter part of a name to narrow it.
- Enter any additional settings the Asset Type defines.
- To assign a tag now, choose one from the Tag list. The list shows tags that are not yet assigned. You can also leave this blank and assign a tag later.
- Select Save.
Result
The new asset appears in the list. If you assigned a tag, the asset shows its Tag ID and tag status. To assign a tag later or update an asset's assigned tag, see Assign or reassign a tag. To change any detail, see Edit an asset.
Note: If you enter an External ID that already belongs to an inactive asset, Entity Manager offers to reactivate that asset instead of creating a duplicate.
