Edit an asset

In Entity Manager, open an asset to change its name, Asset Type, settings, group membership, status, assigned tag, or notes.

Before you begin

• You have the Asset Manager role. See About user access to Entity Manager.

Steps

1. From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, select Entity Manager.
2. Go to Assets and select the asset you want to change. The details open in read-only view.
3. Select Edit.
4. Update any of the following:
   • External ID and Name.
   • Asset Type: changing the type clears the assigned tag and updates which settings apply.
   • Settings: the additional values defined by the Asset Type.
   • Groups: add or remove group membership. You can assign existing groups; groups are created in Asset Tracker.
   • Status: the current status and sub-state.
   • Notes: add a note. Notes are kept as a running history.
5. Select Save.

Result

Your changes appear in the asset's details and in the list. Because the same asset can belong to more than one Kio App, the change is reflected everywhere the asset is used.
