The Monitoring view is the main view for understanding the current state of your Storage Units and Rooms. It shows the latest readings, assigned Threshold Settings, current statuses, and location details in one place.
Use the Monitoring view to see what is in range, what needs setup, and what needs attention. Alerts show conditions that triggered an Alert Rule and need a response; the Monitoring view shows the current state of every Storage Unit and Room you can access, whether or not an alert has been triggered.
Two tabs
The Monitoring view has two tabs:
- Storage Units: Refrigerators, freezers, warmers, incubators, and other controlled Storage Units.
- Rooms: Rooms monitored for ambient temperature and humidity.
Each row shows the latest available readings and the current status for that Storage Unit or Room.
Columns
Each row includes information about the Storage Unit or Room, its assigned Monitor, and its current status. You can choose which columns appear and rearrange their order.
Common columns include:
- Name: The Storage Unit or Room name.
- Department: The department assigned to the Storage Unit or Room.
- Monitor: The assigned Temp Monitor. Select or hover over the Monitor value to view more Monitor details, such as probe readings, Monitor status, time in status, and device identifiers.
- Temp: The latest temperature reading.
- Hum: The latest humidity reading, when humidity is measured.
- Min and max temp: The lowest and highest temperature recorded over the displayed period.
- Min and max humidity: The lowest and highest humidity recorded over the displayed period.
- Threshold Setting: The Threshold Setting assigned to the Storage Unit or Room.
- Status: The current Storage Unit or Room status.
- Time in Status: How long the current status has applied.
- Last Updated: When the latest reading was received.
- Location: The campus, building, floor, and room location.
Note: Temperature can be shown in Celsius or Fahrenheit per department. If your facility sets a department-specific temperature unit, the Temp and Min and max temp values for that department's Storage Units and Rooms appear in that unit. See Configure advanced preferences.
Understand the statuses
The Status column shows the current status of the Storage Unit or Room. This status helps you quickly see whether readings are in range, setup is incomplete, a Monitor is not reporting, or an alert-related condition needs attention.
For example:
- In-range means the latest reading is within the assigned Threshold Setting.
- Monitor setup required means a Temp Monitor has not been installed and assigned to the Storage Unit or Room.
- Alert setup required means the Storage Unit, Room, or Monitor is not covered by an Alert Rule for the expected alert type.
- Threshold setup required means no Threshold Setting is assigned, so threshold excursions cannot be detected.
Monitor device status is related, but separate. A Monitor can be Online while the Storage Unit or Room has a setup or threshold status that still needs attention.
For the full meaning of each status and what to do next, see Storage Unit statuses and Room statuses.
Filter and sort the list
Use filters to narrow the list to the Storage Units and Rooms you need to review.
You can filter by:
- Location
- Department
- Status
- Monitor device type
- Threshold Setting
On the Storage Units tab, you can also filter by Storage Unit type.
You can sort the list by available columns, such as name, department, status, or last updated.
What you see also depends on your assigned Temperature Monitoring role and access. For example, if your role has department-limited access, you see only the Storage Units and Rooms assigned to your department.
Open a Storage Unit or Room
Select a Storage Unit or Room to open its detail view.
The detail view has three tabs:
- Main: Current details for the Storage Unit or Room, including latest measurements, assigned Threshold Setting, assigned Monitor, Monitor status, location, and available Storage Unit or Room details.
- Measurement History: Historical temperature or humidity readings over time, with chart controls for reviewing a specific time range.
- Alerts: Every alert for the Storage Unit or Room, both active (open) and resolved, with each alert's status, activity, and resolution details. Filter the list by status or alert rule.
Use the detail view to understand the current setup, review past readings, or investigate a reading excursion.
