NTP (Network Time Protocol) keeps the Portal Light's internal clock synchronized. Accurate time is required for correct timestamps on telemetry data and for the Portal Light to communicate with Kio Cloud. NTP is configured during installation, but can be updated afterward if your network uses a specific internal NTP server.
Before you begin
- Signed in to Kio Setup Manager with the Device Management role
- Portal Light is powered on and within Bluetooth range
- NTP server address (if your network requires a specific server — ask your IT team)
Note: If your network has standard internet access, the Portal Light uses a default NTP server automatically and this configuration is not required. Only use this workflow if your IT team has specified a custom NTP server.
Steps
- Open the device detail view for the Portal Light:
- Tap Devices > Nearby and select it from the nearby list, or
- Tap Scan and scan the QR code on the device label
- Tap the actions menu and select Configure NTP.
- Enter the NTP server address provided by your IT team.
- Tap Apply.
- Kio Setup Manager sends the NTP configuration to the Portal Light over Bluetooth. Wait for the confirmation message.
What happens next
The Portal Light contacts the specified NTP server at next sync. You can verify time synchronization status by running Fetch diagnostic report — the Time Synchronization check confirms whether the Portal Light's clock is synchronized.
If time synchronization remains failed after configuring NTP, confirm the NTP server address is reachable from the Portal Light's network segment.
