Update the Wi-Fi credentials on a Portal Light after its network changes — for example, when a password is rotated, a network is renamed, or the device is moved to a different network segment. The Portal Light updates its connection without requiring a full reinstallation.
Before you begin
- Signed in to Kio Setup Manager with the Device Management role
- Portal Light is powered on and within Bluetooth range
- New Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password
- Internet connection on your mobile device (to sync the update to Kio Cloud)
Steps
Open the device detail view for the Portal Light:
- Tap Devices > Nearby and select it from the nearby list, or
- Tap Scan and scan the QR code on the device label
Tap the actions menu and select Configure network.
Review the current network settings shown under Current Settings. The Network SSID field shows the network the Portal Light is currently configured to join.
Enter the new Wi-Fi Network SSID and Password in the fields provided.
Note: If the Portal Light has scanned nearby networks, tap a network name in the Available Networks list to populate the SSID field automatically, then enter the password.
Tap Connect. Kio Setup Manager sends the updated credentials to the Portal Light over Bluetooth.
Wait while the Portal Light reboots and connects to the new network — up to 1–3 minutes. The LED turns solid green when the connection succeeds.
Important: Do not close Kio Setup Manager during this step. If the LED does not turn green within 3 minutes, verify the SSID and password are correct and retry. Wi-Fi credentials are case-sensitive.
What happens next
The Portal Light connects to the updated network and resumes forwarding BLE device data to Kio Cloud. Its status in Device Management returns to Online once the connection is established.
If the Portal Light stays offline after the network update, run Fetch diagnostic report from the actions menu to check the connection status in detail.
