Before signing in to Kio Entity Manager for the first time, confirm the following. You will need this information during sign-in.
Role requirement
You must be assigned the Entity Manager Mobile User role in Kio Cloud before you can assign tags to equipment or distribute Smart Badges from the mobile app. This is the only Entity Manager role that grants access to the mobile app.
| Role | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Entity Manager Mobile User | Sign in to Kio Entity Manager and run any workflow available on your device |
| Staff Manager (web only) | Manage staff entities in the Entity Manager web app — does not grant mobile access |
| Asset Manager (web only) | Manage asset entities in the Entity Manager web app — does not grant mobile access |
If you also need to manage entities in the web app, your administrator can assign Mobile User alongside Staff Manager or Asset Manager.
Roles are assigned in Kio Cloud by a Kio User Management Administrator. Contact them before your first sign-in if your role has not been assigned. Changes take effect at next sign-in.
Account type
Your organization's Kio Cloud account is either a Tenant or Non-Tenant account. The account type determines how you sign in to Kio Entity Manager.
| Account type | Sign-in detail |
|---|---|
| Non-Tenant | Sign in with email and password or with SSO without a Tenant ID. On the Tenant ID screen, tap I don't have Tenant ID. |
| Tenant | Sign in with SSO using your Tenant ID and SSO Realm, provided by your Kio User Management Administrator. |
If you are unsure which account type your organization uses, check the URL you use to sign in to Kio Cloud from a browser, or contact your Kio User Management Administrator.
Account region
Kio Cloud accounts are hosted in one of two regions: US or UK. You select your region when signing in to Kio Entity Manager.
The region is visible in your sign-in URL:
app.cloud.us.kontakt.io— US regionapp.cloud.uk.kontakt.io— UK region
If you are unsure of your region, check the URL you use to sign in to Kio Cloud from a browser.
Reporting issues in the app
If Kio Entity Manager shows an error notification or you notice a problem, report it from inside the app. There are two ways to open the in-app bug reporter:
- Two-finger swipe left from any screen.
- Send bug report button on certain error screens, including Tag Cannot Be Assigned and Badge Cannot Be Assigned.
Both open the same reporter, which attaches app logs and device context before sending the report to Kontakt.io support.
