Use the Import Wizard to add, or update, many dispensers from one CSV file. For how Dispenser Types and Dispensers work, see About dispenser management.
Before you begin
- You're signed in to Hand Hygiene with the Administrator role. Dispensers are managed in Settings, which only the Administrator role has access to.
When you are adding more Dispensers than is practical one at a time, use the Import Wizard on the Settings > Dispensers page. Download the CSV template, add one row per Dispenser, and upload the file.
The template already contains every column the import recognizes, including the attribute columns defined across your Dispenser Types, so you do not have to build the file yourself.
From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, open Hand Hygiene.
From the Settings menu, select Dispensers.
Select Import Wizard.
Select Download CSV template.
-
Open the file and add one row for each Dispenser.
Do not change the first row of column headers. The import reads them to work out which column is which.
The wizard lists the columns you must fill under Required fields per row — for Dispensers, that is only the Dispenser ID (the
Kio:External IDcolumn). Every other column, including the Dispenser Type, is optional. You can complete most columns later from the Dispenser's profile, but the Dispenser Type can't be changed in Hand Hygiene, so include it in the file. -
To link a Dispenser to its Dispenser Beacon in the same step, enter the Dispenser Beacon's MAC address in the Tag ID column.
Note: The import checks each MAC address against Device Management and rejects any that is not claimed to your account. A Dispenser imported without a Tag ID is created normally; it simply records no dispenses until a Dispenser Beacon is linked to it.
Save the file, return to the wizard, and select Select File, then Upload.
Review the result. The wizard reports how many rows imported successfully.
Note: The import matches each row to an existing Dispenser by its Dispenser ID. A row whose ID is already in use updates that Dispenser instead of creating a second one, which is what makes the Import Wizard useful for changing many Dispensers at once as well as for adding them.
If rows fail to import
The wizard reports Errors found in n rows and offers Download error CSV. That file contains only the rows that failed, each with the reason it was rejected. Correct them in the error file and upload it again, repeating until no errors are reported. Rows that already imported are not included, so there is no risk of duplicating them.
