Create a Dispenser Type for each dispenser model in your facility. Every dispenser is assigned a Dispenser Type, and Kio Setup Manager asks for one when each Dispenser Beacon is installed, so the types must exist first. For how Dispenser Types and Dispensers work, see About dispenser management.
Before you begin
- You're signed in to Hand Hygiene with the Administrator role. Dispenser Types and the Low Refill Threshold are under Settings, which only the Administrator role has access to.
Dispenser Types categorize dispensers in your facility (for example, soap, sanitizer, in-room, hallway). Hand Hygiene uses Dispenser Types for filtering and grouping in Dispensers Management and in reports.
- From the Kontakt.io Launchpad, open Hand Hygiene.
- From the Settings menu, select Dispenser Types.
- Select Create Dispenser Type.
- On the Initial Step, configure the following:
- Name: enter a unique name for the type.
- Profile Type and Assigned Applications are set automatically to Hand Hygiene values. If you create a Dispenser Type in Kio Cloud Company Settings instead, choose the Static Asset profile type.
- Select Next.
- On the Status Descriptor step, review the status values. They are prefilled for Hand Hygiene, and each status group needs at least one value.
- Select Next.
- On the Attributes step, add attributes for the type, if any. Attributes are optional metadata fields that every Dispenser of this type will have on its profile.
- Select Create. The new Dispenser Type appears in the list and is available when adding Dispensers.
Every Hand Hygiene dispenser also has three built-in fields, whatever its Dispenser Type: Dispenser capacity, the volume of a full refill, which refill tracking requires; Dispense amount, the millilitres released per use, which is 1 mL if left blank; and Initial fill level.
Note: The Dispenser Type's icon and color, used on maps, are managed from the Dispenser Type (Entity Type) in Kio Cloud Company Settings.
