Kio Nurse Assistant is the mobile companion to Asset Tracker. It finds equipment by its real-time location from your phone, so you can see what is available before you leave the unit instead of walking the floor to look.
Throughout the app and these articles, assets and equipment mean the same thing. Staff usually say equipment, or mobile medical equipment — IV pumps, wheelchairs, syringe pumps. Asset Tracker calls them assets.
Where it fits
Asset Tracker is the Kio App that locates your equipment. Kio Nurse Assistant reads the same data from your phone and presents it around one question: what do I need, and where is the nearest one I can use?
The web app and the mobile app answer different questions. Asset Tracker in a browser is where you manage assets, generate reports, and configure alert rules. Kio Nurse Assistant is where you find one piece of equipment during a shift.
What the app gives you
Real-time status — Every asset reports its own location as it moves. Each one carries a status: Clean · ready, In use, or Soiled. You can see what is free before you go looking for it.
Results ordered around you — You set your workplace once — campus, building, floor, and department. The app then shows what is on your floor first, and you can widen the search to another floor with one tap.
A floor plan, not a list of room numbers — Equipment appears room by room on the floor plan of your building. Tap a pin to see exactly where one is.
Quick picks — The four asset types you look for most, one tap from the Find tab. Quick picks do not limit what you can find; search reaches every asset type in Asset Tracker.
What you need
Kio Nurse Assistant is a phone app — iPhone with iOS 18 or later, or an Android phone with Android 8 or later. It is not designed for tablets.
To use it for finding equipment you need the Asset Tracking User role, assigned under Kio Nurse (Mobile) in the Users app. Nothing else has to be linked to your account: the app shows assets, not your own activity, so no staff profile is involved. See About user access to Kio Nurse Assistant.
What differs between iPhone and Android
The two apps find equipment the same way, but they are not identical.
| iPhone | Android | |
|---|---|---|
| Find, Floor, and Settings tabs | Yes | Yes |
| Quick picks, statuses, floor plans | Yes | Yes |
| Indoor navigation — live position, distances, walk times | Where your organization has it enabled | Not available |
On Android, the Find tab searches within your saved workplace. An asset that has moved to another floor, or into a room belonging to another department, does not appear until you widen the search.
Relationship to Asset Tracker
Your asset types, statuses, and locations all come from Asset Tracker. Kio Nurse Assistant does not create or change any of them — it reads what Asset Tracker already records and shows it on your phone. If an asset type is missing from the app, it is missing from Asset Tracker.
Your workplace, quick picks, and filter settings are the exception. Those are saved on your phone, not in your account, so signing in on a different phone starts fresh.
