Within Company Settings, Entity Types define how your organization categorizes entities, which are the assets or people within the Kio Apps.
Topics include:
-
You must be assigned to the Company Settings Administrator role.
-
Each Entity Type is assigned to a profile type - identifies the types of entities within the Kio Apps including mobile assets, static assets, or people.
-
Each Entity Type can be shared with one or multiple Kio Apps (Associated Apps) - results in their assigned entities being available in each associated app.
-
Each Entity Type is set with system icon and color - provides a visual identifier within the maps and views within the Kio Apps.
-
Entity Types are used within Entity Types Rules in Room Types - to automate the status of entities (assets or people) by their room locations and set PAR levels.
-
Entity Types can be assigned to Alert Rules within the Kio Apps.
Although both Entity Types and Entities are managed in Company Settings, they can also be managed within the Kio Apps.
The following table provides a reference of what Entity Types and Entities are named in within each of the Kio Apps.

Setting |
Description: |
---|---|
Profile Type |
Identifies the type of Entities within the Kio Apps.
|
Associated Apps |
Identifies the Kio Apps that an Entity Type is shared with - resulting in the entities (assets or people) assigned to the Entity Type being available within the apps. This is especially valuable when you have multiple Kio Apps.
|
Status Descriptor |
The statuses for use in Entity Type Rules that are set in Room Types. These rules provide the capability to automate the status of entities (assets or people) by their real-time room location. The system has five statuses and for each system status you can set custom statuses. The custom statuses commonly represent your organization's tracking status workflow or business rules. |
Attributes |
An optional setting, for use to capture characteristics or properties provided for the entities assigned to the Entity Type. Attributes function similarly to metadata by providing structured information that can be used to search for entities (assets or people) within the Kio Apps. |
