A room type classifies what a room is for—such as Patient & Exam, Supply storage, Soiled utility, or Transit. Asset Tracker uses room types to automate an asset's status by where it is and to color rooms by type on the map. Room types are shared across Kio Apps, so they are defined once in Company Settings and surfaced in Asset Tracker's Settings > Room Types.
What you can do in Asset Tracker
- View the room types in your facility and the profile assigned to each.
- Set the Asset Type status rules for your asset types—for example, an IV Pump in a Soiled Utility room is Down. These rules are scoped to Asset Tracker's asset types. See Set entity status rules for a room type.
What is managed in Company Settings
A room type's name, profile, and attributes, and creating or deleting room types, are managed in Company Settings → Room Management. These fields appear read-only in Asset Tracker. See Room management overview and Create a room type.
Why some fields are read-only
Room types are shared platform configuration—the same room types are used by every Kio App. To keep that consistent, a room type's core definition is owned by Company Settings, while Asset Tracker lets you set the part that is specific to your assets: how each asset type behaves in each room type.
