An entity status rule tells the platform what status to assign an entity based on where it is. When an entity of a given type is located in a room matched to this room type, the platform sets the entity's status according to the rule you define here.
For example, in a room type for soiled utility rooms, you can add a rule that sets an IV Pump's status to Down while it is in that kind of room — so Kio Apps show those pumps as needing attention.
You set entity status rules on the Entity Types tab of a room type's details page.
Before you begin
- Administrator role in Company Settings
- The room type created (see Create a room type)
- The entity types you want to add already created (see Create an entity type)
Steps
- Open Company Settings from the Kontakt.io Launchpad.
- In the navigation menu, select Room Management, then select Room Types.
- Select the room type to open its details page.
- Select the Entity Types tab.
- Select the option to add an entity type to this room type.
- Choose the Entity Type the rule applies to.
- Set the Status Group and Status Value for the rule:
- Status Group is one of the five system statuses: Available, Utilized, Down, Unavailable, or Unknown.
- Status Value is a custom status defined on the entity type within that group — for example, "Ready for Use" within Available.
- (Optional) If the entity type uses PAR Levels, set the PAR Level for this rule.
- Save your changes.
The rule appears in the list on the Entity Types tab. Add a separate rule for each entity type you expect in this room type.
What happens next
The rule takes effect for every room matched to this room type. Until the room type is matched to at least one room, the rule has no effect. Match rooms to the room type using Room Matching.
